Today, July 22, a bill was submitted to the State Duma that proposes year-round conscription instead of twice a year as currently. The bill was introduced by Dmitry Kartapolov, head of the Defense Committee of the State Duma, and his deputy, Andrey Krasov.
The deputies suggest conducting conscription from January 1 to December 31. It is assumed that during the year, draftees will undergo medical examinations, psychological screenings, and hearings by the draft commission. They will be sent to their military service locations according to the existing conscription periods: from April 1 to June 15 and from October 1 to December 31.
The explanatory note to the draft law states that year-round conscription "will allow for an even distribution of workload at draft offices and improve the quality of military service recruitment."
