In the Kirov region, 737 million rubles have been allocated for free hot meals.
This year, conditions have been created in all state and municipal schools of the Kirov region to provide children with hot meals. Approximately 138,000 people receive them, of whom 73,000 are those eligible for benefits. All primary school students—about 59,000 children—receive free hot meals. The total funds allocated for this purpose amounted to 737.5 million rubles, including 687 million rubles from the federal budget. This amount increases by an average of 4% annually. In addition to younger students, free hot meals are provided to children from families eligible for support measures. This encompasses over 2,600 people, with funds totaling around 40 million rubles. For 724 students with medical conditions, individual meals are organized, representing less than 1% of all students in the region. 285 schools with in-house cooks organize their own meals, while 136 have opted to outsource contract services. The Ministry of Education also announced that starting this fall, some schools will introduce an elective menu. Officials believe this will help reduce the amount of food that children do not eat for various reasons.
