Kirov region will receive 1.4 billion rubles for the renewal of its bus fleet.
The Russian government approved the Kirov region's application for 1.4 billion rubles under the treasury infrastructure loan. The funds will be used to purchase at least 70 buses for urban routes in Kirov and Kirovo-Chepetsk.
The decision was made at the presidium meeting of the government commission on regional development, led by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin. The meeting discussed the results of the application campaign and the implementation of the national project "Infrastructure for Life."
According to Kirov region governor Alexander Sokolov, some of the rolling stock servicing regular routes in the Kirov agglomeration currently needs updating.
"Thanks to the President of the Russian Federation, the government provides the opportunity to use treasury loans for updating public transport. We submitted an application to the Territorial Development Fund, and a positive decision will allow us to purchase at least 70 large-class buses," Sokolov said. "Additionally, the Kirov administration plans to purchase another 50 buses through preferential leasing programs. Thus, by 2025, the region will receive 120 new buses."
Minister of Construction and Housing and Utilities Irek Fayzullin noted that the mechanism of treasury infrastructure loans opens additional opportunities for implementing socially significant projects in regions and contributes to improving citizens' quality of life.
