The student responsible for causing the Kirov resident to lose an eye was sentenced.

The Leninsky District Prosecutor's Office of Kirsk supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against an 18-year-old student of a technical college. He was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 114 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing serious harm to health through exceeding the limits of necessary self-defense). It was established that on November 19 of last year, during the day, a conflict occurred between the young man and the victim in the yard of house No. 10 on Krasina Street. The victim made remarks and insulting comments to the young man and his brother, and then struck his cap's visor with his hand. At the same time, the student began to defend himself against the assault, but acted with excess of necessary self-defense — he fired a signal cartridge from a PU-3 launching device. As a result, the victim sustained bodily injuries, including the destruction and removal of his left eyeball. These injuries amount to grievous harm to health, life-threatening. The court agreed with the prosecutor's opinion and, considering the individual's personality and the severity of the offense, as well as the totality of mitigating circumstances, including the immoral behavior of the victim and partial voluntary compensation for moral damages, sentenced the young man to eight months of restricted freedom. Additionally, the court upheld the victim's claims for compensation for moral damages in the amount of 975,000 rubles. The launching device is to be destroyed per court order.
