Another retiree in Kirov fell into the hands of scammers.
An elderly person received a call on their landline from an unfamiliar caller claiming to be an employee of Rostelecom. According to the scammer, the service contract with Kirov resident is about to expire, and to renew it, personal data and a mobile phone number are required. The pensioner believed the false claim and provided the requested information.
Immediately afterward, a woman claiming to be an FSB officer called the resident of Kirov. She reported that he had taken out a large loan and that he could be prosecuted for assisting Ukraine. To avoid this, he was told to "declare" money and valuables, which were to be handed over to a courier who would pick up the funds, carry out the necessary procedures, and then supposedly return them to the victim.
In the entrance of his building, the elderly Kirov resident handed over 600,000 rubles and collectible coins worth 680,000 rubles to a stranger. Only afterward did he realize he had been deceived and contacted the police. A criminal case has been initiated on charges of fraud in particularly large amounts.
