Every seventh road accident in the Kirov region involves children.

Since the beginning of the year, there have been 96 traffic accidents involving children in the Kirov region. One child has died, and 101 have been injured. Every seventh accident in the region involves underage victims.

Most such incidents are related to violations by adults. Drivers lose control, enter oncoming lanes, fail to maintain distance, or ignore the right of way.

The most dangerous days of the week for children in cars are Thursday and Saturday. Children aged 7–8 years and 15-year-olds are most often involved in accidents. This year, one child passenger has already died, and 42 others have been injured.

A similarly concerning situation exists with young pedestrians. Over six months, 37 children were injured, nearly half due to their own recklessness. Children cross the road in unauthorized places, or emerge onto the roadway from behind cars or other objects blocking visibility. Pedestrians aged 8–9 remain especially vulnerable. Most such accidents occur on Thursdays and Fridays.

There is also an increase in injuries among child cyclists and teenage drivers. In 2025, 11 cyclists and 9 young drivers were injured in such accidents. The primary cause remains traffic violations.
