A resident of Kirov has been arrested for fraud: a pensioner from Yemva gave a "courier" 1.9 million rubles
The Syktyvkar City Court of the Komi Republic approved the prosecution's petition and chose a measure of restraint in the form of remand for a native of Kirov. He is accused of committing large-scale fraud (Part 4, Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
According to the investigation, from June 2 to June 9, 2025, a pensioner from the town of Yemva received a message in a messenger about allegedly hacking her account on the "Gosuslugi" portal. The woman was advised to call the provided number to protect her personal data. The call was answered by a man who introduced himself as an employee of the Central Bank of Russia.
During the conversation, he convinced the victim to withdraw all her savings from her bank accounts and transfer the money to a courier, who was allegedly supposed to deliver it to a "safe account." Under the influence of deception, the woman transferred 1.9 million rubles to him.
The suspect is currently in custody for two months — until August 24, 2025. The court decision has not yet entered into legal force. The investigation is ongoing. The criminal case is being handled by the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Komi, reports the press service of the Syktyvkar City Court of the Komi Republic.
