Doctors explained how smoking affects cancer development.

This was reported by karelinform.ru, citing the Ministry of Health. According to the publication, the combined risk factor for death from lung cancer among smoking men is 22%, and among women, 12% higher than among those who do not smoke. Moreover, if a woman lives with a smoker, her risk of death increases by 30%.

The simplest way to improve one’s health and quality of life is to quit smoking.

Interestingly, the Kirov Ministry of Health is not in a hurry to release fresh data on such diseases. The website onko-kirov.ru only states that in the first six months of 2024, specialists conducted 776,000 examinations, which is 150,000 more than in 2023. In 2023, more than 700 primary cases of lung cancer were registered. Statistics for Kirov in particular are not provided, but it is known that in Russia, lung cancer affects more than 63,000 people annually.
