Oleg Valenchuk's road program: there are the first 100 kilometers!

Summer is the time for harvesting and... repairing roads to the cherished six hundred. For many gardeners in the Kirovo-Chepetsky district, this concern fades into the background thanks to the annual grading program initiated by Oleg Valenchuk, Chairman of the Russian Horticultural Union. Every year, from May to October, the Union's special equipment tirelessly plows the primers, turning broken ruts into smooth paths.

It is very expensive for our small gardening industry to pay for such a service," says Anatoly Razgotchikov, chairman of Malyugany Gardening Co-op. Without the help of the Horticultural Union, the maintenance of the road would have become an unbearable burden for gardeners. Therefore, we are very grateful for such support.

This time, work began in the Kirovo-Chepetsky district. Here, the grader visited 23 horticultural farms, with a total of more than 3,000 plots and put more than 100 km in order.

According to Tatiana Okulovskaya, chairman of Agrochemik Gardening Co., over the years of cooperation with the Union of Horticulturists of Russia, the road situation in their horticulture has improved significantly:

      – Previously, we just graded the road, which, of course, helped. But for the second year in a row, we have been importing crushed stone for the arrival of heavy equipment. That's how we managed to defeat the deepest pits. I really like that the guys approach the matter not formally, but with all their hearts. They try to do their job well so that the result lasts as long as possible.

With the completion of work in the Kirovo-Chepetsky district, the grader will continue its mission in Novovyatsky horticulture. This year, during the summer season, the Horticultural Union plans to put in order more than 500 km of dirt roads to a farming co-op in the Kirov region.

      – Almost every second family has a plot of land, – Oleg Valenchuk notes. – Some come here for the weekend, others move out of town for the whole summer. But life boils only in those horticultural areas where it is easy to get to, bring seedlings and take out the harvest. Without good roads, farming co-ops are gradually dying out. The Russian Horticultural Union considers it its priority to help people who want and know how to work on the land. This is what our road program is aimed at.
