More than 800 parents of children with disabilities received additional paid days off

The Department of the Social Fund of Russia for the Kirov region reimbursed employers for 1,543 additional days off provided to parents, guardians and carers of children with disabilities. More than 800 working citizens were able to take advantage of this opportunity. The total amount of compensation amounted to over 40 million rubles.

Additional paid days off are provided to parents of children with disabilities under the age of 18 who work under an employment contract. The law allows you to take up to four such days per month — up to 48 in total during a calendar year. They are paid in the amount of the average employee's earnings.

At the request of the family, the days can be distributed between the parents or used by one of them. It is also allowed to accumulate days and use them in a block — up to 24 days at once.

To arrange a weekend, it is enough to submit an application to the employer and a certificate stating how many days have already been used by the other parent. If you change your place of work, you will need a certificate from the previous one.

It is important to keep in mind that unused days must be used in the current year. No postponement to the next year or monetary compensation is provided. In addition, such days off are not provided during annual leave, unpaid leave, or parental leave. If there are several children with disabilities in the family, the number of paid days does not increase.

"In 2025, more than 800 parents took advantage of the right to additional days off, and our Department compensated employers for their payment," said Nikolai Pasinkov, manager of the Kirov Region Branch of the Social Fund.
