Kirov residents will see a total lunar eclipse for the first time in seven years

In three months, residents of the Kirov region will witness a rare astronomical event — a total lunar eclipse. It will be the first in seven years, and it will be visible throughout the region. This is reported by amateur astronomers.

On the night of September 7-8, the moon will completely pass through the Earth's shadow. The total phase of the eclipse will last 1 hour and 23 minutes, and the entire eclipse, along with the penumbral phases, will last almost 5 and a half hours. The moon will rise at 18:20 Moscow time and will begin to enter the earth's shadow in a few minutes.

It will be possible to observe the eclipse with the naked eye, as well as through binoculars or a telescope. In its maximum phase, the moon will turn a dark red hue, characteristic of total eclipses. Residents of the Kirov region will see the next similar phenomenon only in December 2028.
