The central bank lowered the key rate to 20%
On June 6, the Bank of Russia lowered its key rate by one percentage point to 20% per annum. The Central Bank explained this decision by saying that inflationary pressure in the country is gradually decreasing. At the same time, domestic demand still exceeds the economy's capacity to produce goods and services. However, experts note that the Russian economy is returning to a more balanced growth.
The central bank will continue to maintain sufficiently tight monetary conditions for inflation to return to the target 4% in 2026. It should be noted that the next meeting on the key rate is scheduled for July 25.
