The first silvery clouds shone over the Kirov region

On the night of May 28, the sky over the Kirov region was decorated with the first silver clouds of the season. This was reported by amateur astronomers. They noted their unusual brightness and vastness: the radiance was visible all over the sky.

These rare, highest clouds in the atmosphere, forming at an altitude of 70-95 kilometers, are also known as night luminous clouds. They consist of tiny ice crystals and appear at dusk from the end of May to the beginning of August.

For the first time, silvery clouds were recorded in 1885, and scientists associated their appearance with the powerful eruption of the Krakatoa volcano. They are now an important object for studying the upper atmosphere.
