In Kirov, on Rudnitsky Street, workers involved in the construction of a new school set up spontaneous parking right on the sidewalk. Because of this, pedestrians, including parents with children, are forced to avoid obstacles on the roadway, risking being run over. Residents of the area repeatedly contacted the traffic police, but, according to them, there was no reaction.
"The other day, I went out with the baby on the road. At that moment, a KAMAZ truck filled with rubble abruptly turned out and began honking. Together with the child, I literally had to huddle into a narrow gap between cars parked on the sidewalk. If we had a stroller with us, we wouldn't fit in there," said one of the local residents.
Rudnitsky Street was reconstructed last year. For 71 million rubles, the roadway was renovated and the sidewalks were equipped. However, shortly after the completion of the work, the landscaping was threatened — the sidewalks were occupied by the cars of construction workers working on the territory of the future school.
According to residents, this situation has been observed since March. Without waiting for help from the traffic inspectorate, they turned to the regional branch of the Popular Front. Public activists contacted the regional government, which is responsible for the construction of schools.
"There are no cars on the sidewalk today. We are sure that a conversation was held with the workers. However, we will still send an appeal to the traffic police. It is unacceptable that there has been no reaction to the residents' appeals for a long time. We were sent photos with license plates — violators must be held accountable," said Alexander Chulkov, an expert at the Popular Front.
Residents hope that the situation will not happen again, and ask the authorities to establish control over how construction is organized near residential buildings and social institutions.
