On May 20, the Department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Kirov held an event of exceptional importance at the largest university in the region. In the format of a panel discussion, the organizers invited students of Kirov colleges and universities to discuss the problems of road safety when driving bicycles, motor vehicles and means of individual mobility.
The audience was greeted by the vice-rector of Vyatka State University, Yuri Kuvaldin. From the hands of Andrey Fomin, head of the Department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Kirov, he also accepted a letter of thanks addressed to the rector of Vyatka State University Valentin Pugach and the entire university staff for fruitful cooperation in ensuring road safety and assistance in organizing events aimed at preventing road traffic injuries.

After watching a short video chronicling urban traffic accidents, expert presentations took place. They were opened by a detailed, detailed report by Police Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Fomin, who stated:
"Yes, there is a problem. It used to be seasonal, but now it has become year-round. Indeed, motorcycles, bicycles, and personal mobility equipment ride on our roads all year round."
These types of vehicles are affordable and convenient, including for commercial activities, in particular the delivery of goods. At the same time, the number of accidents related to this category of road users is increasing every year.
Andrey Yurievich provided extensive statistics on road accidents in the country and the city. He said that since 2014, there has been a downward trend in road accidents in Russia for 10 years. Recently, there has been an increase in accidents. This year, 24,000 accidents have been registered in the country, and the number of accidents has increased by 2 percent. At the same time, the death toll decreased by slightly less than 1 percent, and the number of injured increased by 1.5 percent.

On average, road accidents rank 8th among the causes of death for the entire population.
"Road accidents are the main cause of death of the able-bodied population," Andrei Fominykh emphasized.
In Kirov, since the beginning of this year, there has been an increase in the main accident rates. Overall, the number of road accidents increased by 6 percent, and the number of injured increased by 15 percent.
"The number of people killed in road accidents is particularly alarming. 10 people have died this year. Last year, in 4 months, 2 people died on the roads of the city of Kirov," the speaker noted.
The number of accidents involving drivers with little experience in driving increased by 45 percent.

This is only a small part of the information that was brought to the audience by the speaker. Andrey Yurievich involved the students in the conversation, asked questions. What are the main causes of accidents on the roads?
The guys gave the right answers, and the expert summarized:
"We have two main causes of accidents: violation of the rules of passage of the intersection and hitting a pedestrian."
The greatest attention was paid to the management of bicycles, motor vehicles, and electric scooters. Nikolai Gnezdov, a representative of the Kirov city administration, joined the conversation, emphasizing not only the importance of strict observance of traffic rules, but also the need to ensure silence at night.
Lack of knowledge of traffic regulations, irresponsibility and frivolity when using vehicles cause a variety of, sometimes very serious (and even fatal) injuries. Anna Nekrasova, a pediatric traumatologist, told about them. In her presentation, the doctor used specific examples from her real-world practice.
In general, a huge advantage of the event was that the guys were approached by people who know the problem firsthand. The experts dispensed with boring edification – they operated with facts, talked about their own experiences, and made strong arguments. Such were the performances of representatives of the Kirov cycling movement Timofey Rokhin and Ilya Beklyashov, the captains of the roads of the Kirov motorcycle clubs Igor Maltsev and Roman Zhdanov.
"Take what we're talking about here seriously!" urged Igor Maltsev ("Night Wolves. Vyatka").
Roman Zhdanov, an experienced biker of the Order of the Transfiguration of the MC, listed the possible risks on the roads and emphasized the inadmissibility of alcohol consumption. Drunkenness, even in the seemingly familiar and safe territory of country estates, often leads to irreparable tragedies.
The event was interesting and useful, reminding the participants of both the basic traffic rules and providing the guys with important tips and recommendations from experts on the topic. Only if they are followed can you expect that your preferred mode of transportation and favorite hobby will be really comfortable and enjoyable.
The main thing is to remain Human: Vyatka State University students discussed a feature film based on the novel by Albert Likhanov on the eve of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. A thematic exhibition was opened at Vyatka State University scientists presented the results of a study of industrial tourism in the Kirov region
