19 modern Geoscan — 801 quadrocopters were purchased for the Kirov foresters as part of the national project "Unmanned Aircraft Systems", the regional Forestry Ministry reported. The quadrocopters will be used to monitor the state of forests, patrol the forest fund, combat illegal logging and identify forest fires.
Andrey Tetrin, Minister of Forestry of the Kirov Region, noted that new technologies are being actively integrated into everyday life. "We are able to more accurately monitor the condition of forests, respond more quickly to threats such as illegal logging and forest fires, and save time on assessing the scale of the problem. They make our actions more coordinated and effective, which brings significant benefits for the protection of forest resources," said Andrei Teterin, Minister of Forestry of the region.
The regional government noted that since 2024, forest fire units in the Kirov region have been using 16 quadrocopters to detect fires, conduct reconnaissance and coordinate the actions of specialists.
