The majority of Kirov residents do not support the idea of introducing a tax for the unemployed
Alexander Safonov, a professor at the Financial University, made a proposal to introduce a fixed amount of personal income tax and compulsory health insurance contributions for unemployed, well-off citizens (families, children, parents and housewives). According to Safonov, these groups enjoy social benefits without participating in their financing.
According to the survey results, only 14% of Kirov residents support the idea, while 60% are against it. Moreover, there are more opponents of the initiative among city residents under the age of 35 than among those who are older (66%).
The inclusion of housewives in the list of "professional idlers" caused a lot of controversy. According to Kirov residents, they are already working for free, trying to develop the institution of the family in Russia.
