A 12-year-old girl who fractured her skull in a motorcycle accident was given a titanium plate.
A year and a half ago, a 12-year-old girl was injured in an accident in the Sovetsky district. She was riding in the passenger seat of a motorcycle that was involved in an accident. The schoolgirl fell to the ground and hit her head.
At the Traumatology Center, the girl was diagnosed with an open traumatic brain injury, compression of the brain, fractured skull bones and pneumocephaly — a dangerous accumulation of air in the skull. She underwent emergency surgery, and later cranioplasty: the damaged part of the skull was replaced with a titanium plate.
This case was discussed at a citywide discussion on childhood injuries caused by motorcycles, bicycles, and electric scooters. The doctors of the Traumatology Center noted alarming statistics: in recent years, the number of injured children has been increasing. In 2024 alone, 134 minors with injuries after falling from a two-wheeled vehicle applied to a medical facility.
