      According to the regional government, during the meeting of the Council, which took place on May 21 in Kazan, issues of bilateral cooperation between China and the Kirov region, including joint projects in industrial production, logistics, agriculture and other areas, were discussed.

      The full representative of the President of Russia in the Volga Federal District, who also took part in the Council meeting, noted that the indicators of foreign trade indicate mutual interest and the positive development of partnership between Russia and China. "By the end of 2024, the trade turnover between the regions of the Volga Federal District and China increased by 6.9% compared to the previous year. For the Volga Federal District, China's share in foreign trade was 23%. For most regions of the district, China is the main trading partner," Igor Komarov noted.

      Mikhail Sandalov, Chairman of the Government of the Kirov Region, said that China is an important partner for the Kirov Region. "Our exporters, who previously provided Western markets with products, have shifted their focus, including to China. We supply wood and wood products, plastics and plastic products, food and much more to China. We intend to develop relations with the provinces of the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze. We will use the experience of the Volga Federal District regions that successfully cooperate with China," Sandalov said.

      He also noted that by the end of last year, China took the first place in terms of foreign trade turnover in the Kirov region.
