Every fourth kilometer of heating networks in the region needs to be replaced

      According to the agency, last year in the Kirov region, 1,137 heat supply sources carried out the production and release of thermal energy for heating and hot water supply: boilers, cogeneration plants, etc. In 2024, the total amount of thermal energy produced by them amounted to almost 8.5 million Gcal.

      The majority of heat supply sources — 80% — are boiler houses with a capacity of up to 3 Gcal/hour. Last year, they produced 0.8 million Gcal, which is less than 10% of the total heat produced. More than half — almost 60% — of the thermal energy in the region is produced by cogeneration plants (CHP), slightly more than 30% were produced by boilers with a capacity of 3 or more Gcal/hour.

      According to heat supply organizations, heat energy losses in 2024 amounted to 1.4 million Gcal, of which the majority — 94% — were "lost" on heating networks.

      At the end of last year, the total length of heating and steam networks in the region was almost 2 thousand km, of which every 4th kilometer needs to be replaced: 26.2% of the total length of heating networks.

      By the end of 2024, the length of water supply networks in the Kirov region was more than 7.5 thousand km. Of these, almost 3 thousand km (39% of the total length) need to be replaced. The most worn-out indoor (courtyard) water supply networks, the proportion of those in need of replacement for which is approaching 50%.

      According to Kirovstat, over the past year, 189 accidents occurred in the region on steam and heating networks, 347 on water supply and 39 on sewage networks.
