A resident of the Svechinsky district illegally manufactured firearms

      Last summer, during cleaning, a 46-year-old resident of the Svechinsky district found a metal barrel from a single-barreled smoothbore rifle, as well as a shoe and trigger mechanism. The man decided to use these elements in the illegal manufacture of a hunting rifle.

      The defendant, using a welding machine, connected the barrel and the block, and with the help of locksmith tools he made a wooden bed. The manufactured weapon is hunting, has a 12 gauge and is suitable for shooting. On October 14, a man tried to test his "product" in the wild. However, his illegal actions were discovered by specialists of the regional society of hunters and fishermen, as well as the regional center for the protection of wildlife.

      A criminal case was opened against a 46-year-old resident of the Svechinsky district. He was convicted under Part 1 of Article 222 (illegal possession and carrying of weapons) and Part 1 of Article 223 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal manufacture of weapons). The man admitted his guilt, actively cooperated with the investigation, and also gave detailed testimony about the circumstances of what he had done. He is dependent on a minor child.

      The court agreed with the prosecutor's opinion and, based on the totality of the crimes committed, sentenced the man to 2 years and 3 months in prison. However, taking into account the gravity and social danger of the deed, the identity data and the commission of crimes, for the first time the court considered it possible to apply the provisions of art. 73 of the Criminal Code (suspended sentence), setting a probation period of 2 years.

      The firearm was handed over to the regurgitation department of the Russian Guard to determine its future fate. The welding machine and locksmith tools as a means of committing a crime were confiscated.
