Today, on April 15, the implementation of one of the most anticipated infrastructure projects began in Kirov — the construction of a tunnel under the Trans-Siberian Railway. It should be noted that the completion date is scheduled for February 2, 2028.

Exactly at midnight, the crossing in the Novovyatsky district was closed, so the changed routes of public transport are in effect from today, and we decided to check how it works.

New stops and passage to the crossing

"City bus routes have started operating with passenger transfers. New bus shelters have been created on both sides of the crossing," the government's press service said today. At the same time, there is no bus shelter on Ordzhonikidze Street. By the way, it is at this stop that residents of Kirov and Novovyatsk who want to cross the crossing are dropped off. On the opposite side, on Krasnoarmeyskaya St., the pavilion is still installed.

The stop on Krasnoarmeyskaya St. Photo: Newsler. When we reached the crossing from the stop, we saw a crowd of workers hastily repairing the road and the "dead" stairs leading to the tracks. People who were in a hurry and did not want to stand at the crossing waiting for the next freight train to pass, almost ran into special equipment, since the tractor was working right next to the sidewalk. So is everything really ready and equipped for comfortable trips of citizens in the new conditions?

"How many people will be under the train"

Again, I would like to start with a phrase posted on the website of the regional government.: "The pedestrian crossing over the Trans-Siberian railway was created taking into account all the requirements, GOST standards and SNIPS: the passage is equipped with train alarms, pedestrian traffic lights, and descents for people with limited mobility. Also, for the convenience of pedestrians, Russian Railways employees have already started repairing the steps of the railway crossing." It is true that there are high—quality descents for people with limited mobility, train alarms and new traffic lights at the crossing point, however, there is something that makes Kirov residents worry - a lot of people are gathering on the platform waiting for the tracks to clear, especially in the morning, as a local resident reported, and there is not much room. "Suddenly, in a crush, someone will fall right under the wheels of a train," the woman shares. In addition, as we have noticed, many pedestrians ignore the forbidding traffic light and cross the tracks, ignoring the approaching train.

Stairs should be discussed separately. Today, workers were "poring over" one of them, putting it in order, but on the other side of the crossing there is a less joyful picture — almost all the steps are "crumbled". It's easy to imagine how hard it is to walk up these steps in stilettos or, for example, with a cane that can fall through holes. It remains to be hoped that the workers will finally address this issue in the near future. A local resident shared her impressions: "The steps are in such a terrible state! And there are so many people waiting on the platform. I don't know how many people might be under the train."

Photo: Newsler. Here's the good news: on the other side of the crossing, city route 46A buses are working well. Transport consistently arrives at the bus stop and picks up passengers, and the time difference between buses is not that big. You don't have to buy a second ticket, just show the ticket from the bus ride to the transfer.

The only thing that bothered me was that the road was very narrow and not always safe. So, on the way to the next stop, we passed a section between two unfenced reservoirs, and also noticed some pretty sharp turns. By the way, we remind you that one-way traffic has been introduced on the streets of Proletarskaya, Tukhachevsky, Linnaya and Shkolnaya from today, however, some motorists ignore the rules and drive in both directions. Then the question arises — how will a bus and a car, or maybe a truck, separate on a narrow, winding road? It was especially scary today to watch young children who were walking from the bus stop to the nearest houses beyond the crossing — schoolchildren were walking straight along the roadway due to the lack of sidewalks, and cars were rushing past.

In Novovyatsk, due to the closure of the crossing, one-way traffic will be introduced on several streets.
