Elena Kovaleva congratulated Kirov residents on Cosmonautics Day
On April 12, Russia celebrates Cosmonautics Day, the day of Yuri Gagarin's first human spaceflight in 1961. According to Elena Kovaleva, this date has forever become a symbol of the limitless possibilities of the human mind, courage and striving for the unknown.
The mayor recalled that Kirov has a special relationship with space. Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, the founder of theoretical cosmonautics, spent his childhood here. Viktor Savinykh, twice Hero of the Soviet Union and creator of the unique space center in Kirov, was born on Vyatka land. Kirov residents are also proud of Alexander Serebrov, a pilot—cosmonaut who for a long time held the record for the number of spacewalks.
"May this holiday inspire us to new achievements, reminding us that there are no limits to bold ideas and hard work," said Kovaleva, wishing the residents of the city health, well—being and reaching "cosmic heights" in all their endeavors.
