The prosecutor's office helped the Kirov resident to prove kinship with the deceased stepson

The Verkhnekamsky district Prosecutor's Office intervened in the situation at the request of an elderly local resident. The woman needed to confirm a family connection with the deceased participant in a special military operation in order to receive state support.

Earlier, the insurance company refused the 72-year-old applicant to receive a lump sum payment due to the family members of the deceased participants of the SVO. The reason for the refusal was the lack of documents that would unequivocally confirm the existence of a kinship or family relationship between the pensioner and the deceased.

In the interests of the elderly woman, the supervisory authority filed a lawsuit. During the trial, it was established that the applicant had been officially married to the father of the deceased serviceman for 13 years. She was directly involved in the upbringing of her stepson until he reached adulthood, they ran a common household and lived together, which indicated an established family relationship.

The court agreed with the arguments of the prosecutor's office and acknowledged the existence of family ties between the stepmother and her deceased stepson. This court decision gives the pensioner the opportunity to exercise her right to receive state support measures provided for family members of deceased servicemen.
