
A young Kirov resident won silver at the All-Russian Chess Festival
According to the Ministry of Sports of the Kirov region, the jubilee All—Russian chess festival "Minin and Pozharsky Cup - 2025", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, has ended in Nizhny Novgorod. 23 cups, 152 medals and 214 prizes were awarded at the festival. 1,298 chess players took part in the festival.
The Children's Cup of Russia among boys and girls under 9, 11 and 13 years old was held as part of the festival. Kirov resident Ekaterina Sivkova won the silver medal of the Under-11 Girls' Cup. The regional Ministry of Sports said that Ekaterina is a pupil of the Kirov club "Move Forward". The girl rose to the second step of the podium, scoring 6.5 points.
It should be noted that Ekaterina Sivkova has repeatedly participated and won high-level competitions, and she is also the winner of the Russian Championship.
