The "Gates of the Russian North" have disappeared from Spasskaya Square
At the end of March, the Kirov administration said that the long-awaited renovation of the Gates of the Russian North, which decorate the square near the Savior Cathedral, will begin soon, however, Kirov residents are unlikely to be pleased with the crumbling wooden structures.
So, more than a week ago, inventory began to be delivered to the art object in order to begin repairs, then the Pervomaisky district administration added that the repair would take about two weeks. "At this time, we will close the art object with a special large banner with its image, so that the place looks aesthetically pleasing, despite the renovation," said Sergey Reshetnikov, head of the Pervomaisky territorial administration.
On April 2, the gate was covered with a translucent banner, behind which an art object could be seen. Today, on April 7, Kirov residents said that in the morning the wooden part of the Gate was removed from the metal base and taken away somewhere, and then the banner was hung up again. Surely, after replacing individual elements, the art object will be returned for a translucent fabric.
Let's also add that the Gates are not the only "attack" of Spasskaya Square. Recently, a contractor ruined the lawn behind a wooden art object: special equipment "dented" the ruts. As of today, April 7, the lawn has been restored and tidied up.
