Kirov residents collected 100 kg of coins for a monument on Poklonnaya Gora
According to the regional government, the campaign to collect coins from the Soviet period was extended until March 31. During the month, Kirov residents collected about 50 kg of coins. More than 40 kg of coins were sent to the Victory Museum in February this year. In total, residents of Kirov and the region collected 100 kg of coins from the Soviet period, which will be used to create a monument to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War on Poklonnaya Gora.
The coin collection took place as part of the Russian-Belarusian campaign "Living Memory of Grateful Generations" at the Kirov Museum of Military Glory. A special flask was installed there, where anyone could drop a coin from the Soviet period. "Everyone who brought at least one, even the smallest coin, when visiting this memorial site will be able to see firsthand and feel their contribution to the great common cause of the whole country. Just like 80 years ago, our whole country was approaching Victory with a single impulse," said Yuri Balyberdin, director of the regional Museum of Local Lore.
