Almost 12 thousand Kirov residents had no jobs last year.

      According to the agency, in January — December of last year, the number of workers in the Kirov region amounted to 583.5 thousand people aged 15 years and older. Of these, 571.6 thousand people qualified as employed. 11.9 thousand people qualified as unemployed.

      In 2024, the employment rate in the Kirov region increased compared to the previous year and amounted to 59.9%. At the same time, the employment rate of men was 68.2%, and the employment rate of women was 53.2%. The majority of citizens worked in manufacturing (22%), wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (15%), and education (11%).

      Men are most employed in manufacturing (30%), while women are most employed in wholesale and retail trade (21%) and education (19%).

      Last year, the largest percentage of employed people were aged 30 to 59 (77%). At the same time, employment of every eighth youth representative aged 15 to 29 years was also recorded. The average age of a working person in the Kirov region is 43 years.

      More than half of the workers (52%) had secondary vocational education in 2024.

      In January — December 2024, the unemployment rate in the region decreased by 1.1 percentage points compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 2%. At the same time, the unemployment rate among women is lower than among men: 1.6% and 2.5%, respectively.

      The number of unemployed citizens in 2024 was dominated by those with work experience: 94%. Of these, more than half (56%) left their previous job due to voluntary dismissal. The average age of the unemployed in the Kirov region in 2024 was 44 years. In the past year, 77% used contacting friends, relatives and acquaintances as a job search, while 53% used the media and the Internet.
