Kirov residents are offered to choose the tree of the year
The regional Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is voting for a tree that will represent our region in the All-Russian competition "Russian Tree of the Year". According to the ministry, the purpose of the competition is to find and preserve unique trees that represent natural, cultural and historical value for our country.
"Of course, there are many unique trees in the Kirov region that could adequately represent our region. However, only those trees that were previously included in the National Register of Old—growth Trees of Russia and have the status of a "Tree - monument of wildlife" can participate in this competition, the ministry noted.In the Kirov region, five trees fall into this category: the petiolate oak from the city of Kirov, the rough elm from the Slobodsky district, the small-leaved linden from the Zuyevsky district, the elm from Afanasievo and the common pine from the Slobodsky district.
In the ministry's public page on the Vkontakte social network, you can vote for your favorite tree.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection recalled that last year, according to the results of the vote, an elm tree from the village won. Afanasievo, which represented the Kirov region at the All-Russian competition and scored 1,814 votes.
It should be noted that the voting for the tree will last until April 15.
