Kirov was included in the list of cities with a favorable urban environment.

      The Ministry of Construction of Russia and Dom.rf have published an Urban Environment Quality Index for 2024, calculated for 1,116 Russian cities. According to the project's website, to compile the rating, Russian cities were divided into groups for a correct assessment. Thus, experts have identified several groups of cities: the largest with a population of 1 million people, large — with a population of 250 thousand to 1 million people, large — with a population of 100 to 250 thousand people, medium — from 50 to 100 thousand people, small — from 25 to 50 thousand people, small with a population of from 5 to 25 thousand people and small ones with a population of up to 5 thousand people.

      Kirov joined the group of large cities, which, in addition to our city, includes 61 other cities in Russia. It should be noted that Kirov scored 233 points out of a possible 3,360. In general, in the group of large cities, the maximum score was 280, the average score was 240.

      The number of points received by the city of Kirov consisted of several components. Kirov received 40 points for housing and adjacent spaces, 35 points for the street and road network, 44 points for landscaping, 36 points for public and business infrastructure and adjacent spaces, 39 points for social and leisure infrastructure and adjacent spaces, and 39 points for citywide space.

      According to the project, Kirov is rated as "a large city with a relatively comfortable climate and a population of 475.5 thousand people (according to 2024 data)." It should be noted that in 2023 Kirov scored 216 points in this rating.
