Bank branches will be opened in the salons of the telecom operator

The first additional office of the PSB was opened in the flagship MegaFon showroom on Vosstaniya Square in St. Petersburg. Now you can not only purchase a phone or sign a communication agreement at the salon, but also use banking services — open an account, issue a card, get advice on retail products of the PSB.

In addition, the bank's employees who are in the operator's communication room register in the Unified Biometric System (UBS). To do this, you must first create an account on the Public Services portal, as well as perform the procedure for entering and saving facial images and voice recordings in the EBS. The whole procedure takes no more than 10 minutes.

In accordance with the current version of the law "On Communications", from January 1 of this year, the conclusion of a contract for the provision of cellular communication services with foreign citizens or stateless persons is carried out according to the new rules.

In particular, a foreign citizen needs to make a notarized translation of an identity document and obtain an insurance number for an individual personal account (SNILS), and then create an account for Public Services and confirm it. After that, you need to register with the EBS.

Obtaining an SNILS requires visiting an MFC or a branch of the social insurance fund, and to submit biometrics, you must come to the bank. The telecom operator can activate the purchased SIM card only after checking the subscriber's information in Public Services and in the EBS. All procedures may take more than two weeks to complete.

Research shows that up to 60% of incoming foreigners have short-term goals and do not plan to stay in Russia for more than three months.

The joint initiative of the operator and the PSB will allow existing and new MegaFon customers to significantly reduce the total time spent on signing a contract for the provision of communication services by combining the delivery of biometrics and activation of a SIM card in one visit.

In addition, telecom operators are required to bring previously concluded communications contracts into line with current legislation by July 1 of this year.

Thus, the registration procedure in the EBS applies not only to new subscribers, but also to existing subscribers who are foreign citizens. And it will also be possible to make it in the MegaFon salon, combining the visit with paying for a mobile connection, buying a new gadget, and other procedures.

It should be noted that starting from April 1 of this year, the use of biometrics will become one of the options (along with the use of Public Services) for identification necessary to activate purchased SIM cards for subscribers who are citizens of the Russian Federation.

"Biometric technologies are increasingly being used in various spheres of life, significantly speeding up and simplifying people's access to a wide variety of services. Together with our partner, we are building a comfortable and high-quality infrastructure for citizens, where they will be able to submit biometrics in a matter of minutes, issue a SIM card and simultaneously use the financial services necessary in everyday life. We opened the first office of the new format in the MegaFon showroom in St. Petersburg," said Natalia Rosenberg, Head of Debit Cards and Partner Products at PSB.

"The project is beneficial to all parties. We will be able to provide our subscribers with a new service. And most importantly, our customers can now save time when purchasing a SIM card," summarizes David Borzilov, Director of the Sales Strategy and Development Department.
