Birch trees planted by families of pilots were cut down in Pobedilovo

Today, on March 10, lawyer Yaroslav Mikhailov reported on the cutting of birch trees that occurred on March 9 in Pobedilovo along the highway from Pobedilovsky tract to the Airport, at house No. 1 on Airport Street. According to Mikhailov, the trees were planted by the first residents of the neighborhood, members of the pilots' families, in 1971.

"The trees did not interfere with anyone, did not pose a threat to either residents passing along the sidewalk, or power lines, were not dilapidated, but they interfered with someone," the lawyer wrote in his post.

The cutting down of trees is probably related to the overhaul of the entrance to Pobedilovo airport. Information about the search for a contractor to perform the work was published on the portal in early February. rts-tender.ru , and then again, with a lower initial contract price (9 million 740 thousand 701 rubles), on the public procurement portal on February 21. The customer is JSC Vyatka Highways.

According to the documentation, the contractor must carry out work on cutting down trees, uprooting stumps, dismantling old sidewalks, road signs and bus stops, as well as reconstruct and protect communications, install new sidewalks, bus stops and road signs, strengthen roadsides and dispose of construction waste.

The completion date is scheduled for July 15, 2025. Local residents express outrage at the felling of trees, believing that it damages the environment and deprives the neighborhood of historical memory.
