Tunnel under the Transsib will change the traffic pattern in Novovyatsk
On March 6, a press conference was held, the main topic of which was the organization of traffic during the construction of the tunnel. The speakers were Vyacheslav Simakov, Head of the Kirov Administration, Artem Drachkov, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Kirov Region, Oleg Sozinov, Deputy Head of the Kirov Administration for Municipal Property and Construction, and Andrey Fominykh, Head of the Kirov Traffic police Department.
Vyacheslav Simakov spoke about the changes in public transport routes. The main part of buses routes No. 46 "Geozavod — Novovyatsky district railway crossing" (with 14 cars and an interval of 10 minutes, peak time — 20-25 minutes), No. 87 "Moskovskaya St. — Novovyatsky district railway crossing" (with 13 cars and an interval of 10 minutes, peak time — 20-25 minutes) will follow to a newly equipped bus stop in the Novovyatsky District Court area. Route No. 52 "St. Novaya — Mechanical Plant will retain the number of vehicles and the schedule, but the final stops "Avtodorozhny Technikum" and "Kirova St." will be replaced by the "District Court" stop. To connect residents behind the railway crossing, a new route No. 46a will be launched with a traffic pattern along the streets: Parkaya, Lenina, Kommunisticheskaya, Sovetskaya, Proletarskaya, Tukhachevsky, Linnaya, Shkolnaya, Rosa Luxemburg, Projektnaya, Sovetskaya, Kommunisticheskaya, Lenina, Parkovaya. There will be 4 cars running on this section with an interval of 8-25 minutes. The opening hours of all public transport are from 5:30 to 23:00. The authorities stressed that the operation of transport on both sides of the crossing will be synchronized, and transfers will be free.
When Artem Drachkov was given the floor, he mentioned that the tunnel project was very large-scale. It will lead to difficulties for residents of the Novovyatsky district and its guests. In order to minimize damage to passengers and personal vehicles, the Deputy minister recalled the existence of a detour that will need to be used during the closure of the crossing. The routes will also change:Oleg Sozinov provided details about the construction itself: "The linear part of the facility is 740 meters, the blocked part, that is, the tunnel part, is 36 meters. Traffic will be organized in four lanes." The key difficulty is to carry out the work without stopping the railway connection. They coordinate the windows with the Gorky Railway and its Kirov branch. The total duration of the project is 25 months. Staff meetings are held weekly in the city administration, under the supervision of Alexey Zherdev, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Kirov Region. At the headquarters, deadlines, work schedules are monitored and current issues arising from the contractor, the Autobahn company, are resolved. A timetable for the transfer of about 70 engineering units is currently being agreed upon. A construction landing force is expected to arrive in mid-March to set up the construction site and prepare the territory. The closure of traffic at the crossing is tentatively scheduled for mid—April - May.
Andrey Fominykh assured that the State Traffic Inspectorate pays special attention to road safety during construction. The project documentation on the organization and safety of road traffic during the period of work on the construction site of the transport crossing has been coordinated with the Department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Kirov. When restrictions are imposed on the movement of vehicles and pedestrians in this area, traffic police officers will inspect the road network for compliance with GOST standards and design documents. Traffic police squads will be monitored at the place of work, in addition, they will help road users on the day of traffic closure. They will also monitor the situation together with representatives of the administration.
The authorities urge Kirov residents to understand the temporary inconveniences and promise to promptly inform them about all changes in the traffic schedule and the progress of the tunnel construction.
