In the Kirov region, by the end of the first half of 2026, there were 579.5 thousand employed residents. At the same time, the official number of unemployed was 9.7 thousand people, and the unemployment rate was 1.6%. According to Kirovstat, the total labor force in the region reached 589.2 thousand people. The employment rate was 61.2%. Men worked significantly more often than women: the employment rate among men was 70.2%, while among women it was 54%. The majority of working residents of Kirov are aged between 30 and 59 years. They account for 75% of the employed population. Another 13% of workers are youth aged 15 to 29 years. The average age of an employed resident in the region was 44 years. More than half of the workers, 54%, have vocational education. One in four workers has higher education, and one in five has general secondary education. On average, Kirov residents worked 38 hours a week at their main job. Men spent about 39 hours at work, while women spent 36. Unemployed people look for jobs through acquaintances. Almost all unemployed Kirov residents, 98%, previously had work experience. Of these, 82% left their previous job voluntarily. On average, the search for a new job took 3.4 months. Most often, residents of the region sought help from friends, relatives, and acquaintances — 65% of the unemployed looked for work this way. Another 59% used media and the internet. Only 14% contacted employers directly. The average age of the unemployed in the region was 46 years. The number of volunteers in the region has increased. In addition to labor market data, the survey showed that in the Kirov region, 23 thousand people performed work for the benefit of others for free in the first half of the year. The majority of volunteers, 91%, are women. About 73% of volunteers live in cities. Most often, Kirov residents helped in the social sphere: such types of volunteer activities accounted for 70% of cases. This includes assistance to the elderly, children, people with disabilities, and those affected by various emergencies, as well as food preparation and delivery and transportation of people.
