A resident of Kirov answered in court for the death of a motorcyclist.
The prosecutor's office of the Novovyatsky district of Kirov reported on the results of the court proceedings against a 27-year-old local resident, whose actions on the road led to a tragedy. The case, which caused a wide resonance in the region, was considered under the strictest article for traffic violations that resulted in a person's death.
It was established that on the morning of May 21, 2026, the defendant, while intoxicated, was driving a CHERRY car belonging to his father. While traveling on the highway towards the village of Krasnoye, he lost control — the car veered into the oncoming lane and collided with a motorcycle coming in the opposite direction. The motorcycle driver died on the spot from the injuries sustained.
After the accident, the perpetrator did not stop or call for an ambulance, but fled the scene.
During the investigation and trial, the young man took steps to atone for his guilt before the relatives of the deceased: the victim's family was given compensation in the amount of 2 million rubles, and public apologies were also made. These circumstances were taken into account by the court when determining the sentence.
The judge, agreeing with the position of the state prosecution, sentenced the convicted man to 4 years of imprisonment. He will serve his sentence in a settlement colony. In addition, as an additional punishment, the man is prohibited from engaging in activities related to the operation of vehicles for a period of 2.5 years — the ban will take effect after his release.
The verdict has entered into legal force.
