These days mark 50 years of professional activity at the largest university in the Kirov region for Vitaly Dmitrievich Podkoryrin, a senior lecturer at the Department of Physical Education of VyatSU. Exactly half a century ago, a graduate of the Faculty of Physical Education of KGPU named after V.I. Lenin, who worked for a year as a teacher at a rural school and then served in the Armed Forces of the country, began his teaching career at Kirov Polytechnic Institute. It is noteworthy that right from the start of his university career, Vitaly Dmitrievich distinguished himself in three areas: directly in teaching, organizational and managerial work, and coaching practice. This harmonious combination has accompanied Vitaly Dmitrievich's activities throughout his entire career.

Today, Vitaly Dmitrievich Podkoryrin is a recognized professional, holder of numerous awards of various levels. For many years he has held the honorary title of "Honored Worker of Physical Culture of the Russian Federation," is a recipient of the "Excellence in Physical Culture and Sports" badge, and has received honorary certificates from the university, the committee for physical culture, sports and tourism of the Kirov region, the Federal Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Sports of Russia, the Legislative Assembly of the Kirov region, the Government of the Kirov region, and the Administration of the city of Kirov. More than 20 years ago, Vitaly Dmitrievich Podkoryrin was awarded the medal "Honored Employee of the University." "My credo is to be at the forefront, on the main axis of pedagogy 'teacher-student.' This is the most important link related to practical activity," admits Vitaly Dmitrievich.

The results of this work are impressive. One example is the achievements of students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, to which Vitaly Dmitrievich dedicated a quarter of a century. For all these 25 years, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering has consistently been the winner of university Spartakiads! How did he manage to reach such heights, instill in his students a genuine interest in physical culture, and motivate young people to set records? Vitaly Dmitrievich says: "I try to explain to students that physical culture is an organic part of universal culture. It is a sphere of knowledge and creativity, it is the aesthetics and beauty of the body, movements, and actions. The most important task of physical culture is nobility, the birth of high moral, substantive characters, the crystallization of high ethical qualities, and the upbringing of harmonious individuals." This high standard has become a benchmark for many generations of students and colleagues. Head of the Department of Physical Education at VyatSU, Tatyana Vasilyevna Belicheva, shared: "Vitaly Dmitrievich is a specialist in athletics, and indeed a top-class specialist. His students hold 24 regional records in various age groups. Vitaly Dmitrievich can always be approached with any question regarding the methodology of athletics. I want to emphasize the versatility of Vitaly Dmitrievich's personality. He is truly a very multifaceted person, not just a magnificent coach and teacher. Vitaly Dmitrievich knows several foreign languages; he speaks German excellently and reads poetry in it. Vitaly Dmitrievich is knowledgeable in history and literature, plays the harmonica. He is always the life of the party."

On the eve of the new academic year, Vitaly Dmitrievich Podkoryrin was congratulated by colleagues: the staff of the Department of Physical Education, representatives of the administration of the Pedagogical Institute of VyatSU. While presenting Vitaly Dmitrievich with an honorary certificate from VyatSU, the director of the Pedagogical Institute, Galina Ivanovna Simonova, emphasized: "How much we see here interest in people, in work, how much care and motivation! Vitaly Dmitrievich Podkoryrin is our conscience."
