A Kirov resident lost a third of a million, believing the scammers.
Recently, a 46-year-old resident of Kirov became a victim of fraudsters and lost a large sum of money. This was reported by the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It all started with a call from a stranger who introduced himself as an employee of a telecommunications operator. He informed that the Kirov resident's contract was about to expire and needed to be renewed. Then, the man was sent a code, supposedly for signing a new contract, which he passed on to the caller.
After some time, another person called the city resident, claiming to be from the support service of the "Gosuslugi" portal and stating that the man's personal account had been hacked. The caller also said that an employee of the Central Bank would contact the Kirov resident and instructed him to follow his instructions.
Next, a "Central Bank employee" called. He said that the man urgently needed to transfer all his savings to a "safe account" to protect against fraudsters. The stranger promised that after the necessary procedures, the money would be returned.
In the end, the Kirov resident sent 330,000 rubles to the specified destination. After that, the callers stopped contacting him and deleted all correspondence.
A criminal case has been initiated by the police regarding the fraud. An investigation is underway.
