In the East, representatives of regional authorities, the scientific and medical community, specialists in pharmacology, pulmonology, pediatrics, military medicine, and biological protection gathered. The central theme of the meeting is the creation of a proactive biological protection framework in pediatric and hospital practice. Participants are presented with a full-cycle production process — from obtaining their own pharmaceutical substance through biotechnological methods to the release of the finished dosage form. The production capacity of the facility is up to 5,000 kg of active pharmaceutical substance and up to 3 million doses of the finished drug per year. This antibiotic belongs to the third generation of aminoglycosides and is included in the list of essential and vital medicines. The drug is used to treat a number of infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to it, including infections of the lower respiratory tract, central nervous system, skin, bones, and soft tissues. The uniqueness of production in the East lies in the presence of a complete domestic cycle. "Vostok" uses a unique producer strain isolated in Russia in the 1980s at the Research Institute for the Exploration of New Antibiotics named after G. F. Gauze. Today, "Vostok" is the only manufacturer of tobramycin based on this strain. Within the framework of the expert discussion, the prospects for its use in hospital medicine, pediatrics, respiratory diseases, and cystic fibrosis are being discussed.
