In the Kirov region, a search was conducted all night for a couple lost in the forest.
On August 26, two residents of the village of Ekaterina in the Kotelnichsky district went into the forest for mushrooms, but soon got lost. The couple, born in 1957 and 1960, called the duty station of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Kotelnichsky" and reported what had happened.
Police officers were dispatched to search for the pensioners. They were joined by specialists from the robotics and unmanned aerial vehicles department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Kirov region, as well as local residents.
The search continued throughout the night. Police and volunteers searched the forest area, sending out sound and light signals. Meanwhile, the couple remained in contact via mobile phone — the search operation participants supported them, calmed them down, and helped them navigate in the forest.
In the morning, around 8 a.m., in the area of the village of Lopatiny, it was possible to establish the coordinates of the lost individuals with the help of a drone. After that, the police reached the pensioners along the route mapped from the air and led them out of the forest.
The couple did not require medical assistance. The police helped them return home.
