The group "Uralchem" is a participant in the UN conference on combating desertification.

      At the session "Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture, and Water Resources in the Face of Modern Challenges," the Group presented a report on the topic - "Mineral Nutrition Management as a Preventive Measure Against Land Degradation."

      Participants in the discussion, which brought together representatives from international organizations, government, and business structures, discussed practical solutions for preventing and reducing agricultural land degradation, as well as enhancing the resilience of agro-ecosystems.

      According to various estimates, about 40% of the world's land is classified as arid. Desertification also remains one of the key risk factors for global food security. At the same time, the proper use of mineral fertilizers in conjunction with other agronomic measures can prevent a decline in agricultural productivity and minimize the threat of further soil degradation.

      Desertification has long ceased to be exclusively an environmental issue. It is a matter of food security. Degradation affects lands in Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America — the most densely populated regions of the planet. Every hectare that has lost fertility is food that someone will not receive. For the "Uralchem" Group, preserving soil fertility is part of the sustainable development agenda and simultaneously a direct production task.

      Across the geography of the Group's presence, daily work with farmers is organized in the same way: soil diagnostics, a nutrition system tailored to specific crops, and adaptation of agritech to local conditions. Practice shows that maintaining fertility is easier and cheaper than restoring what has been lost. Balanced nutrition supports field productivity before the soil begins to lose quality. This approach should be the focus of enhancing agricultural resilience and ensuring food security in countries at risk of desertification, including Mongolia, where these processes affect about 77% of the territory.
