Kirov residents were reminded how to survive in the forest during the hunting season.
Due to the mushroom and berry picking season, as well as the ongoing hunting period, the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Kirov Region has updated the rules for behavior in the forest. The main threat, as emphasized by the agency, is related to the likelihood of an accidental shot, so safety requirements are being tightened for all categories of forest users.
Hunters are required to strictly adhere to several key prohibitions and restrictions. In particular, it is not allowed to open fire based on sound or unclear movement, as this may lead to hitting a person. It is recommended to keep the weapon on safety to prevent accidental discharge due to snags. Additionally, hunting should not take place in conditions of limited visibility – in fog, twilight, or under other circumstances that hinder a clear assessment of the situation. When encountering outsiders in the forest, hunters are advised to calmly inform them of their presence and clarify movement routes to avoid crossing paths.
For mushroom and berry pickers, the ministry has developed a separate list of self-defense measures. Citizens are urged to wear bright clothing that will make them visible in the area. Also, a prerequisite is to study the map in advance – it is necessary to know the location of roads, rivers, and settlements beforehand. Before heading into the forest, one should inform loved ones of their route and planned return time – this information will assist rescue services in case of an emergency. If a mushroom picker hears gunshots, it is recommended to indicate their location by voice or other signals. Collectors are also advised to avoid areas with signs of hunting activity: the presence of shells, traces of vehicles, trampled paths, or voices.
The ministry notes that following these simple recommendations will minimize risks and ensure a safe stay in the forest for all visitors.
