In the Kirov region, water has claimed 14 lives.
According to the regional emergency management agency, 14 people have died in water since the beginning of summer, including two children. Only one person was saved.
Most tragedies occurred while swimming in unregulated areas — seven such cases were recorded. Five more people drowned while fishing. The causes of death are still being determined in two incidents.
To prevent new accidents, employees of the State Inspectorate for Small Vessels regularly conduct preventive raids. During these raids, inspectors check compliance with the rules for operating small vessels and identify the most common violations.
The regional emergency management agency reminded residents that swimming should only be done in designated areas, children should not be left unattended near water, and the rules for operating small vessels should be followed. According to rescuers, neglecting these requirements is often the cause of tragedies.
