Andrey Berezin assessed the progress of the tunnel construction under the Trans-Siberian Railway in Kirov.
A large-scale facility is being constructed with federal support. Currently, the main work on creating the tunnel body is underway.
Andrey Berezin emphasized the social significance of the project:
“The tunnel is extremely important for the residents of Novovyatsk, as well as for the residents of Kirovo-Chepetsk and all the southern districts of our region. Therefore, it is important that all work here is done with the highest quality and on time.”
He was impressed by the builders' attitude:
“The most important thing I saw today is the attitude of the people who work here towards their work. They are fighting for every meter of this very complex facility. We have been waiting for this project for many years, and I am confident that we will see it come to fruition soon.”
Andrey Berezin also noted that the pit for the tunnel has been excavated to the design mark, and out of 73 protective screen pipes, 64 have already been driven in. At the same time, the soils are being reinforced, retaining walls are being built, and concrete and geotextiles are being laid. There are 125 people working on the site every day.
“The expansion of Soviet Street has also begun on both sides of the railway. According to the contractor, the peak of construction is scheduled for the autumn months,” added the deputy, Berezin reported.
Traffic through the tunnel and access road will be organized in four lanes – two in each direction. The contractual deadline for the completion of the facility is December 2027. However, the high pace of work gives reason to expect completion as early as the summer of 2027.
