Meteorologists warned of the risk of severe thunderstorms, hail, and squalls amid the heat.
Against the backdrop of a powerful tropical outflow expected in the Kirov region on July 26-27, amateur meteorologists warn of a high risk of dangerous weather phenomena. In their Telegram channel, they note that on July 27, an extremely high value of the CAPE index is forecasted, which may reach nearly 6000. This indicator (Convective Available Potential Energy) characterizes the amount of energy available in the atmosphere for the development of powerful convective processes — thunderstorms, heavy rains, squalls, hail, and even tornadoes. As the authors point out, such high CAPE values in the forecast can be seen quite rarely, indicating very strong instability of the air masses. According to forecasters, thunderstorm activity will begin as early as the night of Thursday, July 23. At the same time, they emphasize that a high CAPE index does not guarantee the mandatory occurrence of dangerous phenomena — their development also depends on humidity, the presence of a "trigger" (front or orography), wind shear, and other factors. It was previously reported that extreme heat is expected in the region: in the eastern half of the area, air temperatures may rise to +36…+38°C. According to preliminary forecasts, the hot period in the region may end as early as the end of July.
