The cat survived after falling from the 14th floor in Kirov.
A cat named Ragnarok was urgently delivered to one of the Kirov veterinary clinics after falling from the 14th floor. The animal was immediately hospitalized in the intensive care and resuscitation department.
After examination, the pet was diagnosed with a pelvic fracture, multiple comminuted fractures of the pelvic limb, and a diaphragm rupture. According to specialists, the latter injury posed the greatest threat to life.
Veterinarians explained that with a diaphragm rupture, the abdominal organs shift into the chest cavity, causing the lungs to stop expanding properly and leading to respiratory failure. Without emergency surgery, this condition could result in the animal's death.
After stabilizing the condition, the doctors performed surgery to repair the diaphragm. A few days later, the cat underwent another surgery — due to severe damage, the limb could not be saved, so it was amputated.
Ragnarok is now continuing to recover. Ahead of him is rehabilitation and adaptation to life on three legs.
Veterinary doctors also reminded pet owners that falling from a window is one of the most common causes of severe injuries in cats. Even if a pet gets up or walks after a fall, this does not rule out internal injuries. Specialists recommend installing special protective nets called "anti-cat" on windows to help prevent such incidents.
In Kirov, they are looking for the owners of a dog that lives under a house. A domestic hen has an egg stuck in its oviduct due to parasites. In Kotel'nich, they are looking for the owners of a puppy found at dawn in a container.
