On July 7, after 8 PM, specialists from the mobile laboratory of the Ministry of Ecology visited the Kirov microdistricts "Scandinavia," "Sign," "European Streets," and "Life." The reason was complaints from local residents about an unpleasant odor.
The measurement results showed that there were no exceedances of the maximum allowable concentration of harmful substances. However, the smell was indeed noticeable — the ministry staff also felt it.
According to representatives of the agency, the presence of an odor does not necessarily mean that certain standards have been violated: "In Russia, there are no established norms for maximum allowable concentrations specifically for odor. The existing MACs regulate the content of specific chemical compounds in the air, but human olfactory perception is individual. Therefore, formal compliance with standards does not exclude olfactory discomfort."
