A young resident of Kotel'nich fatally beat an acquaintance during a drunken quarrel.
The Kotel'nich Interdistrict Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kirov Region has submitted a criminal case to the court against a 23-year-old local resident. He is charged under Part 4 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional infliction of serious harm to health resulting in the death of the victim through negligence).
The tragedy occurred on the night of May 25, 2026, in the city of Kotel'nich. The accused, who was in a state of alcohol intoxication, during a sudden conflict with his 51-year-old acquaintance, inflicted multiple blows to the opponent's head. The man was urgently taken to the hospital; however, the injuries he sustained were too severe — despite the efforts of the medical staff, he died shortly thereafter.
The accused did not deny his actions — he gave a confession and expressed remorse. Investigators of the Investigative Committee petitioned for the accused to be taken into custody, and the court supported this preventive measure.
The investigative department noted that the necessary investigative activities were carried out in the shortest possible time. The collected evidence was sufficient to approve the indictment. The case materials have now been sent to court, where they will be considered on the merits.
