August bonus for the chosen ones: who will have their accumulated pension recalculated

      Starting from August 1, 2026, some Russian pensioners will receive an increase in monthly payments due to the recalculation of pension savings. The increase will only affect those who have already been assigned a funded pension through the Social Fund of Russia, reports the publication "RIA Novosti."

      The amount of the increase will vary. For recipients of a funded pension through the SFR, payments will rise by 17.3%. For participants in the state co-financing program, parents who directed maternity capital to a funded pension, as well as citizens who made voluntary contributions, the increase will be 19.3%. In the latter case, this refers to a fixed-term pension payment, which is assigned for a minimum period of ten years.

      As explained by State Duma deputy Alexey Govyrin, no application will be required — the recalculation will be conducted automatically based on the fund's own data. The increase concerns a limited group: men born between 1953 and 1966 and women born between 1957 and 1966 (for whom contributions were made in 2002–2004), as well as citizens born in 1967 and younger, for whom contributions were made until the freezing of the funded part in 2014. The right to receive payments arises upon reaching 60 years of age for men and 55 years for women, provided they have the necessary work experience and pension coefficients.

      The SFR clarified that the August increase does not apply to old-age insurance pensions, social pensions, disability payments, survivor benefits, and military pensions. If a pensioner previously withdrew their savings in a lump sum, the increase in monthly payments will not affect them — until new funds appear in the account and the fund assigns a new payment.

      For clients of non-state pension funds, a separate rule applies: the procedure and amount of the increase should be clarified with their NPF, as the information from the SFR pertains only to payments managed by the Social Fund.
