Due to the heavy rains in the Kirov region, 15 settlements have been cut off.
Governor Alexander Sokolov reported that he personally visited the sites of road washouts in several locations. According to him, the emergency services, road maintenance crews, and local authorities acted promptly. They were present at the scenes of the incidents not only during the day but also at night. The heads of the districts were also present alongside the people. Where necessary, residents were evacuated, and assistance was promised. Sokolov stated that "the road workers did a good job" and have already eliminated almost all the washouts.
Chairman of the government Mikhail Sandalov reported that as a result of the heavy rains, three residential houses in the Zuevsky district and 34 household plots in the Zuevsky and Omutninsky districts were flooded. Currently, water has receded from 25 plots in some areas, but nine plots remain flooded.
Additionally, due to the rise in water levels, traffic has been disrupted on five bridges in the Zuevsky, Kirovo-Chepetsky, Nagorsky, and Belokholunitsky districts. As a result, 15 settlements have been cut off from regular transport links — this includes 1,143 houses where 2,023 people live.
According to Sandalov, residents are being provided with food, medications, and social services. Authorities, together with consumer cooperative enterprises, are monitoring the delivery of essential goods.
Heavy precipitation has also affected agriculture. Due to the over-saturation of fields and washed-out field roads in the affected areas, fieldwork has been temporarily halted. However, dairy farms continue to operate normally, and there has been no information about serious damage to crops so far.
Currently, municipalities are forming commissions to assess the damage caused by the natural disaster. After the inspections are completed, authorities promise to organize assistance for the affected residents.
