The funds from the maternity capital are increasingly being used for the education of the younger generation. In the Kirov region, 674 families made this decision in the first months of 2026. The total amount allocated for educational services exceeded 40 million rubles. According to the Kirov region branch of the Social Insurance Fund, this direction is second in popularity only to improving housing conditions. The money is primarily used for contractual education in universities and colleges, as well as for paying for kindergartens. Additionally, the use of funds for student accommodation in dormitories is permitted. One of the key innovations is the simplified procedure for reviewing applications. Thanks to electronic data exchange between the Fund and educational institutions, parents no longer need to provide paper copies of contracts if an information interaction agreement has been concluded between the parties. There are already more than 500 such agreements in the Kirov region. As a result, 9 out of 10 applications go through the procedure in a simplified format. The conditions remain the same: capital can be directed towards education when the child who granted the right to the certificate turns three years old. An exception is made for paying for kindergarten. The age of the student at the start of classes must not exceed 25 years. To pay for accommodation, the application must include a rental agreement and a certificate from the educational institution confirming residence. The easiest way to submit an application is through the State Services portal. A decision is made within 10 working days, and another 5 days are allocated for the transfer of funds after approval.
